NHK has announced that its major drama project "Saka no Ue no Kumo" will be starting this November. As a result, the currently-airing taiga drama "Tenchijin" will be shorter than previous taiga dramas, ending almost a month early and lasting only 47 episodes, despite getting off to a good start.

"Saka no Ue no Kumo," which
began filming in 2007, is based on a historical novel set in the Meiji Era written by author Ryotaro Shiba. Its star-studded cast includes Masahiro Motoki, Teruyuki Kagawa, Yukiyoshi Ozawa, Hiroshi Abe, Miho Kanno, and Takako Matsu. Filming is still in progress, with locations overseas and all across Japan.

A total of 13 90-minute episodes are planned, divided into three parts. The first chapter, which is almost done filming, lasts five episodes and will have the First Sino-Japanese War as its climax. It will air on Sundays at 8:00pm, from November 29 to December 27. The drama will then continue with a 4-episode chapter in fall 2010, and another 4-episode chapter in fall 2011.

In a very rare move, it seems that this year's taiga drama series on NHK is to end a month early. NHK's annual historical drama has aired on Sunday nights for 50 episodes the last couple of years, but "Tenchijin" will run for only 47. Tenchijin, with an all-star cast led by Tsumabuki Satoshi (28) as medieval retainer Naoe Kanetsugu (1560-1620), got off to a good start last weekend with an audience rating of 24.7% in the Kanto region. But yesterday NHK announced that another major drama series will air in the Sunday night time slot from November 29 to December 27. The cast and large scale of "Saka no Ue no Kumo" was first announced back in November 2007 when filming began, and the series is being shot on 18 locations around Japan as well as Russia, China, France and the U.K. Starring Abe Hiroshi (who's also in Tenchijin) as the famous general Akiyama Yoshifuru (1859-1930), Motoki Masahiro, Kagawa Teruyuki and Kanno Miho, it is based on the historical novel by Shiba Ryotaro (1923-96). This year's five episodes will actually complete the first part of the series. The second series of four episodes will air in the autumn of 2010, while the third and final part will be shown a year after that. An NHK spokesman said that the plan to show the drama in the usual taiga time slot was to ensure that it got the maximum audience exposure and was made well before Tenchijin started.

Hello! Project has announced that singer Aya Matsuura fractured a toe on her left foot at her home this past Monday. The injury is expected to take 6 weeks to fully heal.

Starting this Saturday, Matsuura is scheduled to perform in several Elder Club concerts this month, including the graduation concerts on January 31 and February 1. As these are her final performances with Hello! Project, she will of course appear in the shows as planned, though her movement will be hindered with her broken toe taped in place.

In October, it was announced that Jin Akanishi's first starring movie role will be in "BANDAGE," which is being directed by music producer Takeshi Kobayashi and written by Shunji Iwai. Although the film isn't scheduled for release until 2010, the rest of the main cast has already been revealed as of Monday.

Leading the list of names are Kie Kitano, Kengo Kora, and Yuki Shibamoto. Nobuaki Kaneko (the drummer of RIZE), Hideyuki Kasahara, model Anne, Ayumi Ito, and Kazuo Zaitsu have also been cast. Besides Akanishi's role, specific character details have not been revealed yet.

Isn't it a great project for jin-kun? he'll be morepopular than ever but wewill have to wait for 2010 to watch it. But ill inform you about the shooting too.
